I have been offering my homestay program for more than ten years. In that time, I have hosted/taught almost 200 students. I have tried to find the best way to accept a student’s reservation and payment, and I have finally arrived at this “system”:
1. The student sees my website and makes inquiries about the program to his/her satisfaction. This may involve numerous e-mail exchanges and a Skype “meeting”.
2. The student submits a completed application form on-line.
3. The student proposes a set of dates. (2- week periods starting and ending on Sundays)
4. If the dates are mutually agreeable, I ask the student to make an airline reservation and send me a copy via e-mail.
5. The student’s airline reservation constitutes the reservation. There is no exchange of money.
6. Payment in full is collected upon the student’s arrival in my home.
Note: Most programs require that the student pay a $ deposit in order to guarantee the reservation. I do not do this. I trust that my student will be faithful to the reservation.
